Darlene Holland

The first of many 90 minute hot yoga classes began in 2009 at a super legit studio in San Jose, California. Darlene was excited to drive 45 minutes with her roommate to experience “Bikram Hot Yoga”. She started to feel a new kind of sweat. Having been an avid marathon runner during that time, the muscles in her body started to feel like butter. That soft butter feeling weirdly took over alongside a new layered feeling of strength gain. Mind you, the strength appeared during that class as wobbles in her legs, arms, and feet. Muscles and fascia seemed to stretch in new tingly ways. As sweat began to drip, the concept of breath became an absolute new realization. She was hooked from that point on and her hot yoga practice alerted her inner teacher. Hot Yoga became like a vital meal; feeding her body, mind and spirit. She continues to this day to be excited and grateful for hot yoga.

Her journey has led her to share in her classes, a space of lifted self-realization and kind empowerment. For 5+ years she has been at The Sweaty Buddha out of her 10+ years of teaching. She has a consistent self-practice and enjoys learning, and sharing.

“Dar” loves Durango’s lifestyle and community! She has lived here for 10+ years with her two kids and husband. When you take her class, mention your why and what brought you to come to hot yoga. She loves to hear how people’s lives are being changed.
